Waste Oil Furnace - Could This Really Be a Way to Save Some Money on Heat This Winter?

There are many people who are successfully operating waste oil furnaces to heat everything from their home to their garage or even their business or shop. The fuel that is being used can be waste motor oil, or waste cooking oil, either one will work just fine with only minor differences in the procedure for preparation or burning the waste oil as fuel.

I have always had a huge interest in alternative fuel solutions. To my mind it just does not make sense that there is a central source for our fuel needs. If we look at history, it is only in the very recent years that the supply of energy has been outside the hands of the average person.

That being said, I have always kept my eye out for ways to use fuel sources withing the reach of anyone. It is even better, in my opinion, if that fuel source is from a waste source. To operate a waste oil furnace, it is good to explore the procedures and methods to clean and burn the oil as fuel, as well as weather there is a readily available and sufficient quantity of oil close enough to your location to be practical.

In general the two main issues involved in using a waste oil furnace they are are cleaning the oil and heating the oil.

The reason it is necessary to heat the oil is that most waste oils are simply too thick to flow through the heater and burn.
